Description/outline
Six Crisis Management Training (CMT) courses for Designated Officials (in Bonn, Panama, Jordan, Bangkok, Nairobi and Beijing); and three Hostage Incident Management (HIM) courses in Jordan, Bangkok, and Nairobi were completed. In total 122 personnel were trained on the CMT course, and 67 personnel were trained on the HIM courses.

Synopsis

Objectives

The project aims to update and deliver regional training programmes on crisis management and hostage incident management based on current international best practises and lessons learned to Designated Officials (DOs)/DOs ai, to Âé¶¹APP Security Management System (UNSMS) Security Officers & INGO SLT implementing partner personnel.

Components

The project includes updating crisis management and hostage incident training curricula, delivering regional crisis management and hostage incident training courses, producing a report with best practices, lessons learned, youth insights, and recommendations.

Main achievements

Six Crisis Management Training (CMT) courses for Designated Officials (in Bonn, Panama, Jordan, Bangkok, Nairobi and Beijing); and three Hostage Incident Management (HIM) courses in Jordan, Bangkok, and Nairobi were completed. In total 122 personnel were trained on the CMT course, and 67 personnel were trained on the HIM courses.

The nine courses were all completed with excellent feedback from participants, which was analysed, then used to adjust the methodology of the courses when deemed necessary. Furthermore, the project selected individuals for further training to ensure continuity.

Impact

The project enhances the capacity of senior UN officials appointed as a DO for Security to implement UN crisis management procedures in accordance with the relevant UN policies, minimizing the impact of crisis on delivery of UN programmes and activities, and ensuring preparedness and timely recovery from the impact safety and security crisis.
