Readout?of the President of the General Assembly¡¯s Meeting with H.E. Mr. Sangjin Kim,?Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the Â鶹APP?and President of the Â鶹APP Security Council?[September 2025]
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Philemon Yang, met H.E. Mr. Sangjin Kim,?Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the Â鶹APP on 29 August 2025.
The President of the General Assembly and the Permanent Representative discussed the programme of work for the Republic of Korea¡¯s upcoming Presidency of the Â鶹APP Security Council, which begins on 1 September 2025. The Permanent Representative highlighted the mandated meetings of the UN Security Council taking place in September. He further noted that there would be an Open Debate on the Future of Peace Operations, which would consider key issues, opportunities and challenges in the context of the review on the future of all UN peace operations, as well as Open Debate on Artificial Intelligence and International Peace and Security.
The President of the General Assembly and the Permanent Representative agreed on the importance of addressing ongoing conflicts and continuing dialogues to achieve peace and security.
