INTERACTIVE HEARING TO CONSIDER ¡°WHOLE-OF-SOCIETY¡± APPROACH TO MIGRATION

• As part of the process to finalize the first ever Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the President will hold an interactive hearing on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber. This is the third such hearing since July.
• It will focus on the importance of what is now known as the ¡°whole-of-society approach¡±. This entails cooperation between different actors, including authorities, migrants, civil society, the private sector, and academia ¨C so that migration is managed in a more holistic manner. The goal is to share ideas and experiences from the ground that can help shape the compact.
• There will be opening remarks from the President and also Louise Arbour, the Secretary-General of the intergovernmental conference to adopt the Global Compact.
• There will also be two panel discussions, which will be moderated by Sherwin Bryce-Pease, President of the Â鶹APP Correspondents Association.

GENERAL COMMITTEE DISCUSSES ALIGNING ASSEMBLY¡¯S WORK WITH DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

• This morning, the President attended a meeting of the General Assembly¡¯s General Committee.
• The purpose of today¡¯s meeting was to discuss aligning the General Assembly¡¯s work with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

NO COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM TURKEY ON JERUSALEM

• The Spokesperson was asked whether there had been any recent official communication from the Turkish Government to the President of the General Assembly on the subject of Jerusalem.
• The Spokesperson said that no such communication had been received.
