The General Assembly, in its resolution 80/150, decided to convene a comprehensive High-Level Midterm Review (MTR) of the DPoA for the Least Developed Countries, to be held in Doha, Qatar, from 25-27 March 2027.

By that resolution, the General Assembly also requested the President of the General Assembly and the President of the Economic and Social Council, within existing mandate and resources, to jointly organize, in 2026, a one-day special thematic event, with the participation of Member States, observer States and observers, non?governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector and academic institutions, in order to provide input to the comprehensive high-level midterm review.

Accordingly, the Joint General Assembly-ECOSOC Special Thematic Event on the Midterm Review of the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries will take place on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 3 – 6 p.m., in the General Assembly Hall and Conference Room 1, 麻豆APP Headquarters, New York.

The event will assess progress in implementing the DPoA against the backdrop of the current global development landscape; identify obstacles to implementation, with particular emphasis on energy insecurity, structural vulnerability and commodity dependence, the worsening debt situation, fragile infrastructure, and the imperative to build resilience against climate change and disaster risks; and strengthen the political consensus needed to arrive at the MTR with renewed commitments and concrete deliverables.
