The  (SGAC) was conceived at the Third in 1999 with a single conviction: that young people deserve a voice in the future of space.

Today, the non-profit organisation has grown into the largest network of young space professionals, spanning 165 countries with over 38,000 members aged 18-35, empowering youth across sectors from space agencies to academia, to advance cooperation, responsible exploration, and a more peaceful future in space.

Every year, SGAC opens doors for young space professionals who might otherwise never get a seat at the table, through more than 180+ scholarships, and 15+ international events. From the Space Generation Congress, held in a new country annually, to the SGx Conference's TEDx-style talks and Shark Tank-inspired pitch competition, these gatherings bring together students, professionals, and industry leaders to ignite ideas and shape the future of the global space ecosystem.

Shaping space policy, driven by the next generation

Through formal representation at the Âé¶¹APP, including Permanent Observer status at the , Consultative Status at the , and as a sector member of the International Telecommunication Union, SGAC ensures young professionals have a seat at the table of global space governance. From full delegations to official statements, its diverse community of youth members actively shapes policy on everything from the peaceful use of outer space to space sustainability and telecommunications.

From knowledge to impact

SGAC provides a wide range of educational and professional opportunities through its Mentoring Programme, the , and initiative-based activities. It also hosts 11 multidisciplinary research groups spanning topics from space safety and sustainability and space exploration to ethics, human rights, and diversity and gender equality.

Through these groups, members produce and present research at space conferences around the world, with publishing over 35 papers annually, developed in partnership with universities and education platforms.
