2024 Nakba Commemoration<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 17 May, ECOSOC Chamber, UN Headquarters<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Panel Discussion \u201c1948 – 2024: The Ongoing Palestinian Nakba\u201d<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 17 May, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene a commemorative Panel Discussion \u201c1948-2024: The Ongoing Palestinian Nakba\u201d<\/em><\/strong> on 17 May 2024 (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.) in the ECOSOC Chamber, at Â鶹APP Headquarters.<\/p>\n The ongoing Nakba<\/em><\/a> throughout all parts of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the grave situation in the Gaza Strip, continues to demand the attention of the international community and international action to end this historic injustice, to end Israel\u2019s illegal occupation, and to assist the Palestinian people to realize their inalienable rights.<\/p>\n By holding a commemoration of the Nakba, the Committee intends to continue highlighting this historical event marking the plight of the Palestinian people, following the 2023 Commemorations<\/a> mandated by the General Assembly in resolution A\/RES\/77\/23 of 30 November 2022.<\/p>\n The panelists include Phyllis Bennis, Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies, Washington, D.C.; Ardi Imseis, Assistant Professor of Law at Queen\u2019s University, Ottawa, and Karameh Kuemmerle, Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School.
