OCHA reports that the UN and its humanitarian partners continue to provide\u202fassistance\u202facross the\u00a0Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
Since May, and in collaboration with\u00a0partners, the\u00a0International Organization for Migration (IOM)\u00a0are providing\u00a0shelter repairs, replacing wood with aluminium to improve durability, safety, and living conditions. They also supported the manufacture and installation of nearly 150 large emergency family shelters and provided shelter assistance to hundreds of families, combining cash and in-kind support.<\/p>\n
The UN and its humanitarian partners are\u00a0also repurposing\u00a0used wooden pallets\u00a0for furniture\u00a0and\u00a0other\u00a0household\u00a0uses.<\/p>\n
However,\u00a0IOM\u00a0warns<\/a>\u00a0that progress continues to be constrained by lengthy Israeli approval processes, including custom clearance. Delays have led to winter items only receiving approval during the summer. Last month, several shipments, including kitchen sets and solar lanterns, that had already been cleared by Israeli authorities\u00a0were nevertheless denied entry.<\/p>\n Meanwhile,\u00a0as families experience electricity blackouts, overcrowding and lack of safe\u00a0cooking\u00a0fuel,\u00a0they\u00a0often\u00a0prepare meals\u00a0over an open fire inside or\u00a0near their tents.\u00a0In June, the UN and its partners responded\u00a0to\u00a0multiple\u00a0cooking-related fire incidents.\u00a0To mitigate further risk, humanitarian teams\u00a0provide\u00a0safety\u00a0guidance\u00a0to people at risk.<\/p>\n Turning to the West Bank, settler-related incidents continue. On Monday,\u00a0near the town of Halhul, Israeli settlers\u00a0reportedly attacked\u00a0Palestinian farmers using sticks and stones.\u00a0A\u00a0newly established settlement\u00a0near the town of Dura\u00a0prevented Palestinians from accessing thousands of\u00a0acres\u00a0of agricultural land, affecting the safety and livelihoods of\u00a0more than a dozen families and restricting movement and access for\u00a0thousands of Palestinians.<\/p>\n OCHA calls once again for the protection of civilians,\u00a0which includes enforcing the law against anyone who carries out attacks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" 17 June 2026 OCHA reports that the UN and its humanitarian partners continue to provide\u202fassistance\u202facross the\u00a0Gaza Strip.
