We want to make sure that Europe will help bring this conflict to an end\u00a0and\u00a0make sure that the two-state solution will prevail.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ambassador Seck chairs the\u00a0<\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Â鶹APP Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People<\/a><\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. During a two-day visit to Brussels this week, the Committee discussed with European governments the importance of defending international law and preserving the two-state solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-video fusion-youtube\" style=\"--awb-max-width:600px;--awb-max-height:350px;\"><div class=\"video-shortcode\"><div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\" style=\"padding-top:58.33%;\" clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture;\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The delegation,\u00a0which included\u00a0ambassadors to the UN from Senegal, Cuba and Namibia, alongside Minister Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the UN, met with EU officials, diplomats and civil society\u00a0organisations\u00a0as part of a wider European tour aimed at\u00a0mobilising\u00a0support for peace in Palestine.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Established by the UN General Assembly in 1975, the Committee works to support Palestinian self-determination, sovereignty and the realisation of a two-state solution. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ambassador Seck stressed that Europe has a \u201ckey role to play politically, diplomatically, economically and humanitarianly\u201d at what he described as a critical moment for the region.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_274292\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" UNRIC<\/p><\/div><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-274292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">International law<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Minister\u00a0Mansour called for concrete measures in response to what he said are violations of international law\u00a0and for\u00a0European leaders to move beyond \u201cbusiness as usual\u201d.\u00a0He pointed specifically to Israeli settlements\u00a0in the occupied West Bank, citing rulings by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which he said had made clear the settlements were illegal and \u201chave to be dismantled\u201d.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The UN Committee members stressed the need to uphold the UN\u00a0Charter,\u00a0UN\u00a0resolutions\u00a0and a multilateral rules-based order grounded in international law.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The delegation also highlighted the importance of preserving the fragile Gaza ceasefire and supporting efforts toward a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hope<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Brussels meetings formed part of a wider European tour that began in France and would continue in Spain. \u201cSome of our contributions, we believe, resonated in the minds and hearts of those that we met with,\u201d Minister Mansour said. \u201cWe hope that this contribution will make a difference in our collective responsibility and approach to open widely the door for peace and justice in the Middle East, especially for the Palestinian people.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The agenda in Brussels included meetings with representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European External Action Service, the EU Council\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/council-eu\/search-the-list-of-council-preparatory-bodies\/political-security-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Political and Security Committee<\/a><\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0(PSC), the Belgian Foreign\u00a0Ministry\u00a0and civil society\u00a0organisations.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The visit builds on the engagements of the recent\u00a0<\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/high-level-conference-two-state-solution-july2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 Conference on the Two-State Solution<\/a><\/em><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0and the\u00a0<\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/document\/annex-new-york-declaration-06aug25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Declaration<\/a><\/em><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State
