OCHA yesterday released a\u00a0new mapping<\/a>\u00a0of access restrictions\u00a0that Israeli forces have\u00a0set up\u00a0across\u00a0the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

It shows that restrictions on movements and access of Palestinians across the West Bank is tightening. On at least three occasions last month, Israeli forces installed obstacles – these can include checkpoints, gates, trenches and earth mounds – across Nablus, Salfit and Tubas governorates, disrupting people\u2019s access to services, homes and livelihoods.<\/p>\n

These new obstacles come on top of\u00a0others\u00a0that\u00a0Israeli authorities\u00a0have imposed over\u00a0decades.<\/p>\n

The analysis is based on a survey carried out by OCHA and its partners in December 2025, which documented 925 obstacles that restrict access to livelihoods and services for 3.4 million Palestinians. This is 43 per cent above the average of 650 obstacles over the past two decades, and the highest number on record.<\/p>\n

OCHA notes\u00a0that the 712-kilometre-long Barrier\u00a0with its gate and\u00a0permit\u00a0regime\u00a0remains\u00a0the single largest obstacle to Palestinian movements in the West Bank.<\/p>\n

In Gaza, a recent UN survey covering over 40 UN agencies and humanitarian NGOs, shows a system-wide shortage of engine oil and spare parts, which are essential to keep vehicles and back-up generators running. If shortages persist, essential services such as health, water and sanitation will be at risk of erosion or even collapse.<\/p>\n

Humanitarian\u00a0partners warn that\u00a0approvals and a sustained flow of supplies\u00a0are\u00a0critically\u00a0needed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, health partners report that as of\u00a0last Friday,\u00a0just\u00a0about 43\u00a0per cent of all\u00a0health points that were operational before October 2023 were still functioning,\u00a0most of them\u00a0only partially.\u00a0Health partners\u00a0have provided\u00a0an average of\u00a0276,000\u00a0consultations\u00a0every\u00a0week in April,\u00a0up from about 201,000 per week in March.<\/p>\n

Recently,\u00a0the World Health Organization\u00a0completed a 128-bed extension at Al-Shifa Hospital, increasing its inpatient capacity.<\/p>\n

Correction to yesterday\u2019s update:\u00a0humanitarian partners are supporting the\u00a0daily\u00a0production of\u00a0290\u00a0\u2013\u00a0not 230\u00a0\u2013\u00a0metric tons\u00a0of bread.<\/em><\/p>\n
