world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u201d,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Reaffirming<\/span><\/i>\u00a0the applicability of the Geneva Convention\u00a0relative\u00a0to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12\u202fAugust\u00a01949,<\/span>1<\/span>\u00a0to the Occupied\u00a0Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and other Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recalling<\/span><\/i>, in this regard, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights<\/span>2<\/span>\u00a0and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural\u00a0Rights,<\/span>3<\/span>\u00a0and affirming that these human rights instruments must be respected in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, as the legal consequences of the construction of a wall in the Occupied Palestinian\u00a0Territory,<\/span>4<\/span>\u00a0and recalling further its resolutions\u00a0<\/span>ES-10\/15<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 20\u202fJuly 2004 and\u00a0<\/span>ES-10\/17<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 15\u202fDecember 2006,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recalling further<\/span><\/i>\u00a0the advisory opinion\u00a0rendered\u00a0on 19\u202fJuly 2024 by the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences arising from Israel\u2019s policies and practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and from the illegality of Israel\u2019s continued presence in the Occupied Palestinian\u00a0Territory,<\/span>5<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recalling<\/span><\/i>\u00a0its resolution\u00a0<\/span>67\/19<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 29\u202fNovember 2012,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Taking note<\/span><\/i>\u00a0of the accession by Palestine to several human rights treaties and the core humanitarian law treaties, as well as to other international treaties,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Expressing its concern<\/span><\/i>\u00a0about the exploitation by Israel, the occupying Power, of the natural resources of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and other Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Expressing its grave concern<\/span><\/i>\u00a0about the extensive destruction by Israel, the occupying Power, of agricultural land and orchards in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the uprooting of a vast number of fruit-bearing trees and the destruction of farms and greenhouses, and the grave environmental and economic impact in this regard,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Expressing its grave concern also<\/span><\/i>\u00a0about the widespread destruction caused by Israel, the occupying Power, to vital infrastructure, including water pipelines, sewage networks and electricity networks, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, in particular in the Gaza Strip, which, inter alia, has polluted the environment and which negatively affects the functioning of water and sanitation systems and the water supply and other natural resources of the Palestinian people, and stressing the urgency of the reconstruction and development of water and other vital civilian infrastructure,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Expressing its grave concern further<\/span><\/i>\u00a0about the negative impact on the environment and on reconstruction and development efforts of unexploded ordnance that\u00a0remains\u00a0in the Gaza Strip\u00a0as a result of\u00a0the conflict, and commending the efforts of the Mine Action Service of the Â鶹APP for the safe removal of such ordnance,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Expressing its grave concern<\/span><\/i>\u00a0about the chronic energy shortage in the Gaza Strip and its detrimental impact on the operation of water and sanitation facilities, which threaten to further erode groundwater resources, of which only 4 per cent\u00a0remains\u00a0potable,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Deploring<\/span><\/i>\u00a0the detrimental impact of the Israeli settlements on Palestinian and other Arab natural resources, especially\u00a0as a result of\u00a0the confiscation of land and the forced diversion of water resources, including the destruction of orchards and crops and the seizure of water wells by Israeli settlers, and of the dire socioeconomic consequences in this regard,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recalling<\/span><\/i>\u00a0the report of the independent international fact-finding mission to investigate the implications of the Israeli settlements on the civil, political, economic,\u00a0social\u00a0and cultural rights of the Palestinian people throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East\u00a0Jerusalem,<\/span>6<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Aware<\/span><\/i>\u00a0of the detrimental impact on Palestinian natural resources being caused by the unlawful construction of the wall by Israel, the occupying Power, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including in and around East Jerusalem, and of its grave effect as well on the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Stressing<\/span><\/i>\u00a0the urgency of achieving without delay an end to the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement on all tracks, on the basis of Security Council resolutions\u00a0<\/span>242 (1967)<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>338 (1973)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 22\u202fOctober 1973,\u00a0<\/span>425 (1978)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 19\u202fMarch 1978,\u00a0<\/span>1397 (2002)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 12\u202fMarch 2002 and\u00a0<\/span>2334 (2016)<\/span><\/a>, the principle of land for peace, the Arab Peace Initiative<\/span>7<\/span>\u00a0and the Quartet performance-based road map to a permanent two-State solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,<\/span>8<\/span>\u00a0as endorsed by the Council in its resolution\u00a0<\/span>1515 (2003)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 19\u202fNovember 2003 and supported by the Council in its resolution\u00a0<\/span>1850 (2008)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of 16\u202fDecember 2008,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Stressing also<\/span><\/i>, in this regard, the need for respect for the obligation upon Israel under the road map to freeze settlement activity, including so-called \u201cnatural growth\u201d,\u00a0and to dismantle all settlement outposts erected since March 2001,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Stressing further<\/span><\/i>\u00a0the need for respect and preservation of the territorial unity,\u00a0contiguity\u00a0and integrity of\u00a0all of\u00a0the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recalling<\/span><\/i>\u00a0that the Security Council, in its resolution\u00a0<\/span>2334 (2016)<\/span><\/a>, underlined that it would not recognize any changes to the 4\u202fJune 1967 lines, including\u00a0with regard to\u00a0Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties through negotiations,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recalling also<\/span><\/i>\u00a0the need to end all acts of violence, including acts of terror, provocation,\u00a0incitement\u00a0and destruction,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
