From Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General as posted on his official X account (previously known as Twitter)<\/em><\/p>\n Alarming new data from UNRWA clinics in Gaza:<\/p>\n Since March, nearly 100,000 children under the age of 5 screened by UNRWA<\/p>\n – In less than 6 months, child malnutrition tripled across the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n – In Gaza City, nearly 1 in every three children is now malnourished\u2014X six higher than before the ceasefire collapsed.<\/p>\n This is not a natural disaster.<\/p>\n It is a man-made, preventable starvation.<\/p>\n UNRWA and other aid groups have been blocked for almost six months from bringing in supplies.<\/p>\n The Agency\u2019s warehouses in Egypt and Jordan have aid that could fill 6,000 trucks\u2014 including three months worth of food.<\/p>\n Again and again, I appeal to let life-saving aid in through UNRWA , and other humanitarian organisations.<\/p>\n If not, more children will continue to die.<\/p>\n Political will can reverse this abomination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" 20 August 2025 From Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General as posted on his official X account (previously known as Twitter) Alarming new data from UNRWA clinics in Gaza: Since March, nearly 100,000 children under the age of 5 screened by UNRWA – In less than 6 months, child malnutrition tripled across the Gaza Strip.
