The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the UN Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO Action News<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>15 January 2016<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\"><strong>Europe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In London, on 16 January, Alexandre Goeschmann and Guy Davidi who also directed the award winning film \u201c5 broken cameras\u201d will present and screen their\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/events\/film-screening-regarding-palestine\/\">new film\u00a0<\/a>\u201cRegarding Palestine\u201d a story of construction workers, whose labour is being used to build the infrastructure of the occupation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>La Maison des Metallos in Paris on 16 January will hold a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maisondesmetallos.org\/2015\/12\/10\/palestine-pourquoi-la-revolte-de-la-generation-post-oslo\">discussion<\/a>\u00a0on Palestine: \u201cWhy the revolt of the post-Oslo generation.\u201d The event is organised by Les Amis de l\u2019 Humanit\u00e9 with PierreBarbancey, reporter for the newspaper L\u2019Humanit\u00e9, Amir Hassan, a young Palestinian living in Gaza and \u00c9l\u00e9onore Merza-Bronstein, an Israeli anthropologist, founder of \u201c De-Colonizer\u2009\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\">Middle East<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/pchrgaza.org\/en\/\">The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights<\/a>\u00a0published its weekly\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pchrgaza.org\/en\/?p=7746\">report<\/a> on Israeli human rights violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory covering the period 7 \u2013 13 January 2016.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 28 January,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejerusalemfund.org\/\">The Jerusalem Fund<\/a>\u00a0will screen\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thejerusalemfund.org\/ht\/d\/EventDetails\/i\/57079\/pid\/187\">\u201cSalt of the Sea\u201d<\/a>\u00a0an award-winning film by one of the younger auteurs of Palestinian cinema, Annamarie Jacir, who is considered the first Palestinian woman to have directed a feature film. On 21 January,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thejerusalemfund.org\/ht\/d\/EventDetails\/i\/57084\/pid\/187\">\u201cDivine Intervention\u201d<\/a>\u00a0will be screened, described by critics as a \u201cblack comedy\u201d about the existential absurdity facing Palestinians living in Israel and under the occupation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\">Global<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Salisbury Methodist Church in England from 6 through 31 January will host an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/locations\/salisbury-methodist-church-3\/\">exhibition<\/a> showing everyday life in the village of Bil\u2019in in the occupied West Bank, as seen through the eyes of the children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits of the United Methodist Church in USA\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wespath.com\/investment_philosophy\/human-rights-guideline-implementation\/\">announced<\/a> that it would divest from 5 Israeli banks as part of the implementation of their human rights guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 19 January, in Dublin, Professor Jeff Halper will launch his\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipsc.ie\/event\/cork-jeff-halper-book-launch-war-against-the-people-israel-the-palestinians-and-global-pacification-ipsc\">new book<\/a>: \u201cWar against the People: Israel, the Palestinians and Global Pacification\u201d. The event is hosted by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign as part of the End the Irish Arms Trade with Israel campaign.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\">Âé¶¹APP<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unispal.un.org\/DPA\/DPR\/unispal.nsf\/47d4e277b48d9d3685256ddc00612265\/7d47d9e3bb9838ed85257f320051b517?OpenDocument\">OCHA<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ochaopt.org\/documents\/ocha_opt_the_humanitarian_monitor_2016_01_05_english.pdf\">bulletin<\/a> by the end of 2015, 136 Palestinian deaths and nearly 14,000 injuries had been recorded in the West Bank and Israel in the context of attacks and clashes, the largest yearly figure since OCHA began its records in 2005.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The Security Council will hold an open debate on the Middle East including the Palestinian question on 26 January. The meeting will be webcast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 27 January,\u00a0The Palestinian Rights Committee\u00a0will hold its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/ga\/search\/view_doc.asp?symbol=A\/AC.183\/2016\/L.1\">first meeting<\/a>\u00a0of the year. During the meeting the programme of work for 2016 will be adopted and the elections of the bureau will be held. The UN Secretary-General will speak.
