The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the UN Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO Action News<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>12 February 2016<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\"><strong>Europe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An American-Palestinian poet and writer Remi Kenazi is visiting the UK from 9 to 20 February to promote the release of his new collection \u201cBefore the Next Bomb Drops: Rising up from Brooklyn to Palestine\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 9 February, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign officially launched a campaign by pledging General Election candidates to support justice for Palestine in the 2016 Irish General Election.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The Contemporary art gallery \u201cMosaic rooms\u201d in London on 11 February launched an event: \u201cPossible and Imaginary Lives\u201d by Yasmine Eid-Sabbagh who is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mosaicrooms.org\/event\/talk-possible-and-imaginary-lives\/\">discussing book and installation project<\/a> of four Palestinian-Lebanese sisters exiled in different places across the globe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 15 February, Ipswich film theatre of London will screen the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/events\/film-open-bethlehem-ipswich\/\">film<\/a> \u201cOpen Bethlehem\u201d by movie director Leila Sansour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Rashid Khudairi, Palestinian co-ordinator of Jordan Valley Solidarity network of Palestinian communities is visiting UK from 17 to 26 February in the framework of his campaign \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/jordanvalleysolidarity.org\/blog\/2016\/01\/11\/jvs-tour-of-uk-cities-and-universities-16th-28th-february-2016\/\">to exist is to resist<\/a>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign is organizing a tour in Palestine\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipsc.ie\/event\/palestine-journey-for-justice-palestine-2016-jai\">\u201cJourney for Justice \u2013 Palestine 2016\u201d<\/a>\u00a0for youth all over the world from age range 17 to 25.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\"><strong>United States of America<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On 9 February, Students for Justice in Palestine at Cleveland State University hosted\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arabamerica.com\/events\/the-palestinian-exception-to-free-speech\/\">an event<\/a> \u201cthe Palestinian exception to free Speech\u201d by guest speaker Omar Shakir.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 11 February, the Church of the Holy Apostles in New York screened a short documentary \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arabamerica.com\/events\/detaining-dreams-screening\/\">Detaining Dreams<\/a>\u201d, a story of four Palestinian children from the West Bank who are undergoing the ordeal of an Israeli military detention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\"><strong>Middle East<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On 8 February, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights filed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pchrgaza.org\/en\/?p=7846\">two complaints<\/a>\u00a0to the UN Special rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, concerning journalist Mohammed Osama al-Qeeq held by Israeli forces. In parallel, PCHR through social media started an advocacy campaign \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/pchrgaza.org\/en\/?p=7822\">Lighting Gaza<\/a>\u201d.\u00a0Furthermore, the centre published its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pchrgaza.org\/en\/?p=7852\">weekly report<\/a>\u00a0(4 -10 February 2016) on \u201cIsraeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"24px\"><strong>The Â鶹APP<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On 8 February, UNRWA\u2019s Qalqilya based Girls\u2019 School was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unrwa.org\/newsroom\/press-releases\/inauguration-unrwa-qalqilya-basic-girls%E2%80%99-school\">inaugurated<\/a> by the Islamic Development Bank (IDP) and the Agency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 9 February, Mr. Nickolay Mladenov, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process issued a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unsco.org\/Documents\/Statements\/SC\/2016\/Statement%20by%20UN%20Special%20Coordinator%20Mladenov%20-%209%20February%202016.pdf\">statement<\/a> on Palestinian unity talks, emphasizing full support by the UN to advance genuine Palestinian reconciliation in line with non-violence, democracy and the PLO principles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 8 February, OCHA published its weekly (2-8 February) Protection of Civilians\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/reliefweb.int\/report\/occupied-palestinian-territory\/protection-civilians-weekly-report-2-8-february-2016\">report<\/a>\u00a0highlighting developments and incidents in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This newsletter informs about recent and upcoming activities of Civil Society Organizations affiliated with the Â鶹APP Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
