The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the UN Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO Action News<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>15 August 2016<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><b><i><u>Global<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>To highlight the diminishing water supply to Palestinians, a light installation was <a href=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/l0HlPqfu9GdGVPRde\"><u>held<\/u><\/a>\u00a0simultaneously in eight locations: Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Boston, New York, Houston, Johannesburg, Melbourne and Perth, Australia on 14 August, creating the message \u201cWater is a right\u201d in various languages. The campaign is organised by the Coalition of Women for Peace, a part of the larger Water Coalition, composed of twenty NGOs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"center\"><b><i><u>North America<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>On 16 August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Canadian-Arab-Society-London-Canada-150425401674916\/?fref=nf\"><u>Canadian Arab Society of London<\/u><\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tahrir.ca\/\"><u>Canadian Boat to Gaza<\/u><\/a>\u00a0are hosting a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/581258845369631\/?active_tab=highlights\"><u>talk<\/u><\/a> in London, Ontario by member of the Israeli Knesset, Dr. Basel Ghattas. Dr. Ghattas sailed with the 2015 Freedom Flotilla to Gaza. He will speak about the present state of democracy in Israel as it relates to Palestinian human rights, the occupation and the ongoing blockade of Gaza.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>From 26 to 28 August, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palestinianfestivalottawa.com\/\"><u>3<\/u><u><sup>rd<\/sup><\/u><u>\u00a0annual Palestinian Festival<\/u><\/a> will take place in Ottawa. The event will also include Dabke dances, fashion show, and music performances featuring artists such as Nizar al-Issa, an oud player.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 11 November, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejerusalemfund.org\/\"><u>the Jerusalem Fund<\/u><\/a>\u00a0is holding the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejerusalemfund.org\/events\/upcoming\/2016-palestine-center-annual-conference-mark-date\"><u>Palestine Center Annual Conference<\/u><\/a><u>\u00a0entitled<\/u>\u00a0\u201c<i>The Palestinians: History, Agency, and Future Prospects\u201d,\u00a0<\/i>in Washington, D.C. The conference will examine the current situation in Palestine and present perspectives on Washington\u2019s policy toward Israel and Palestine, in light of this year\u2019s presidential elections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><i><u>Europe<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"18\" data-lineheight=\"27px\"><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>On 4 September, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/\"><u>Palestine Solidarity Campaign<\/u><\/a>\u00a0is hosting a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/events\/mkpsc-palfest\/\"><u>family event<\/u><\/a> in Milton Keynes, UK, to celebrate Palestinian arts, crafts, food, music, dress and culture. It will include live music by oud player Yaz Fentazi, stalls, handicrafts, and films.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 24 September, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amostrust.org\/\"><u>Amos Trust<\/u><\/a>\u00a0is organizing a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amostrust.org\/diary\/amos-day-2016\/\"><u>talk<\/u><\/a>\u00a0in London hosting Sahar Vardi, a peace activist who coordinates the Israel programme for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.afsc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Friends Service Committee<\/a>, focusing on countering the militarisation of Israeli society. At the age of 18 she refused to serve at the IDF and spent several months in military prison. The initiative \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amostrust.org\/diary\/just-walk-to-jerusalem-2017\/\"><u>Just Walk to Jerusalem 2017<\/u><\/a>\u201d, a 100-day walk from London to Jerusalem to demand full equal rights for everyone who calls Israel\/Palestine home, will also be launched.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 29 September, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/events\/mkpsc-palfest\/\"><u>Palestine Solidarity Campaign<\/u><\/a>\u00a0is hosting a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/events\/film-screening-stones-cry-3\/\"><u>movie screening<\/u><\/a>, in Kent, of\u00a0<i>The Stones Cry Out,<\/i>\u00a0a documentary telling the story of Palestinian Christians through the decades of occupation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"center\"><b><i><u>Â鶹APP<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"18\" data-lineheight=\"27px\"><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>On 6 August, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/undpa\/en\"><u>Â鶹APP Department of Political Affairs<\/u><\/a>\u00a0published an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/un-dpa.tumblr.com\/post\/148509828284\/restoring-faith-in-the-two-state-solution\"><u>article<\/u><\/a> regarding UN International Conference in support of Israeli-Palestinian Peace in Geneva, 29-30 June 2016.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 21 September, the second annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.solutions-summit.org\/\"><u>Solutions Summit<\/u><\/a>\u00a0will take place at UN Headquarters in New York during General Assembly week. The purpose of the Summit is, among others, to highlight projects that advance the objectives the upcoming UN Summit for Refugees and Migrants on 19 September. During the Solutions Summit, selected global innovators will present their efforts to senior policy-makers, investors, and industry leaders.
