The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the UN Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO ACTION NEWS<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>6 October 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Middle East<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From 17 to 23 October, <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.flp.ps\/\">FilmLab Palestine<\/a> is organizing the film event \u201cDays of Cinema\u201din Ramallah, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nablus and Gaza. The programme includes the screening of Palestinian and foreign films, workshops and panel discussions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 3 October, <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/east-ring-road\">Peace Now<\/a> expressed great concern about the start of construction work to build a new road providing Israeli settlers from the West Bank with an additional entrance to Jerusalem. The group claimed that it was the first step in plans to annex vast areas of land in the heart of the West Bank and cut it in two, jeopardizing the territorial contiguity required to build a viable Palestinian state as part of the two-State solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 2 October, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.addameer.org\/news\/social-activist-khitam-saafin-released-israeli-prison\">Addameer<\/a> reported the release of Khitam Saafin, President of the Union of Palestinian Women\u00b4s Committee, arrested by Israeli forces in the Ramallah area in July and subsequently held three months in administrative detention. In August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/documents\/mde15\/6859\/2017\/en\/\">Amnesty International<\/a> (AI) had launched an Urgent Action on behalf of Khitam Saafin and Palestinian Parliamentarian Khalida Jarrar, who continues to be held in administrative detention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 28 September, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.btselem.org\/press_releases\/20170928_collective_punishment_following_har_adar_attack\">B\u2019Tselem<\/a> denounced measures amounting to collective punishment against nine West Bank villages around Beit Surik, affecting approximately 40,000 Palestinians. Two days earlier, a Beit Surik resident had killed an Israeli Border Police officer and two Israeli settlement security guards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>As part of a project to help Palestinian children in Gaza to heal by providing psychosocial support and recreation opportunities, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gcmhp.com\/en\/news.aspx?id=1646\">Gaza Community Mental Health Programme<\/a> conducted in September a training course \u201c<em>Positive Management for Emotional and Behavioural Issues among Adolescents<\/em>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>North America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From 27 to 29 October, the 2017 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalsjp.org\/2017-conference.html\">National Students for Justice in Palestine Conference<\/a> \u201c<em>A Reimagined World: Dismantling Walls from Palestine to the Rio Grande<\/em>\u201d will be held in Houston.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brownpapertickets.com\/producer\/338076\">Friends of Sabeel North America<\/a> is hosting two conferences on \u201c<em>Challenging Oppression: Working for Justice from Palestine to the USA<\/em>\u201d in California \u2013 in San Francisco on 3 December and in Santa Rosa on 1 December.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the theme \u201c<em>From Pinkwashing to Pinkwatching<\/em>\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/uscpr.org\/israel-cannot-faithwash-pinkwash-image\/\">US Campaign for Palestinian Rights<\/a> will hold webinars with American Muslims for Palestine, Jewish Voice for Peace\u2019s Network against Islamophobia and Palestinian queer activists on 17 and 24 October.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 14 October, the <a href=\"https:\/\/rachelcorriefoundation.networkforgood.com\/events\/3813-peace-works-2017-from-marches-to-movements\">Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice<\/a> will hold in Olympia, WA, its \u201c<em>2017 Peace Works: From Marches to Movements<\/em>\u201d conference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 5 October, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaiusa.org\/film_screening_of_this_is_palestine?utm_campaign=sept_17_no_1&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=aai\">Arab American Institute<\/a> hosted a screening of the movie \u201c<em>This is Palestine<\/em>\u201d, followed by a discussion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Europe<\/u><\/strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 4 November, the UK-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/events\/national-rally-central-london\/\">Palestine Solidarity Campaign<\/a> (PSC) is organizing a national march and rally \u201c<em>Justice Now: Make it right for Palestine<\/em>\u00a8.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/\">PSC<\/a> is also hosting on 21 October a conference \u201c<em>Britain and Palestine 1917-2017: One hundred years of broken promises<\/em>\u201d in Liverpool, and on 18 October a conversation with Kamel Hawwash and Avi Shlaim on the Balfour Declaration in Cardiff.<u>\u00a0<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Asia Pacific<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 29 November, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2xqHObF\">(PSC) Thailand<\/a> will host an event in Bangkok to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afopa.com.au\/2017-palestine-symposium\">Australian Friends of Palestine Association<\/a> (AFOPA) has opened registration for the three-day symposium \u201c<em>Palestine and the West: History, Contemporary Realities and Challenges Ahead<\/em>\u201d, to be held at the University of Adelaide from 24 to 26 November.
