The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the UN Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO ACTION NEWS<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>20 October 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><u>Middle East<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 18 October, <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/plans-for-2646-housing-units-in-the-settelments-advanced-this-week\">Peace Now<\/a> issued an update on planned settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>According to an article published in Al-Monitor on 17 October, <em>\u201cPalestinian Farmers go Global to Claim their Rights\u201d<\/em>, the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) is finalizing preparations for the launch of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al-monitor.com\/pulse\/originals\/2017\/10\/palestine-agriculture-la-via-campesina-water-food-movement.html\">La Via Campesina-Palestine<\/a> at a conference to be held in Ramallah on 29 November.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 16 October, <a href=\"http:\/\/features.gisha.org\/gazas-candy-kingdom\/\">Gisha<\/a>-Legal Center for Freedom of Movement presented a new short animated film <em>\u201cGaza\u2019s Candy Kingdom\u201d<\/em>, illustrating the impact of closure policies on industrial production in Gaza through the example of the Al Awda sweets factory in Deir al-Balah.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dci-palestine.org\/\">Defence for Children International<\/a> (DCI) Palestine has produced a short video raising concern about lack of safe playgrounds in West Bank refugee camps adjacent to Israeli military posts and infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Latin America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From 26 to 29 October, Palestinian diaspora communities from Latin America will gather at Club Palestino in Santiago de Chile for an inclusive cultural event \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/encuentrotaqalid.com\">Taqalid \u2013 Encuentro de la Di\u00e1spora de Latinoam\u00e9rica<\/a>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>North America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From 2 to 9 November, the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Manhattan in New York is organizing its 11<sup>th<\/sup> annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.otherisrael.org\/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIq8mz0Mv_1gIVCq1pCh2imgbbEAAYASAAEgKDWfD_BwE\">The Other Israel film festival<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 12 October, Abby Smardon, executive director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/mondoweiss.net\/2017\/10\/sixth-visit-devastated\/\">UNRWA USA National Committee<\/a>, published an article in Mondoweiss <em>\u201cOn my sixth visit, I have never seen Gaza so devastated\u201d<\/em>, calling for an end to the blockade on Gaza.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Europe<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.france-palestine.org\/Conference-debat-avec-Isabelle-AVRAN\">Association France Palestine Solidarit\u00e9<\/a> (AFPS) will organize on 21 October a debate with journalist Isabelle Avran to reflect on the current situation and prospects for a resolution of the question of Palestine.
