The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the UN Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO Action News<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>24 November 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Middle East<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 21 November, the Palestinian Minister of Social Development Ibrahim Shaer, and Save the Children Country Director in the Occupied Palestinian Territory Jennifer Moorehead, signed a memorandum of understanding. This document sets out a general framework for how <a href=\"https:\/\/opt.savethechildren.net\/news\/protecting-rights-vulnerable-children-save-children-signs-mou-palestinian-ministry\">Save the Children<\/a> will support the Ministry with their work for children with disabilities, child protection (including child detainees and ex-detainees) and child labour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 22 November, Israel\u2019s Attorney General, Avichai Mandelblit, responded to the petition challenging the \u201cRegularization Law,\u201d submitted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acri.org.il\/en\/2017\/11\/22\/attorney-general-responds-to-expropriation-law-petition\/\">ACRI<\/a>, Yesh Din, and Peace Now to Israel\u2019s High Court of Justice (HCJ) on 3 March on behalf of 27 Palestinian local councils, 4 Palestinian landowners and 13 Israeli civil society organizations. The Attorney General refused to represent the government in court on this case, given his strong and clear objection to the law, as detailed in the response submitted today.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 23 November, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, the Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center (JLAC), and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezan.org\/en\/post\/22130\/JOINT+PRESS+RELEASE%3A+Even+Israeli+AG+says+Settlement+Regularization+Law+should+be+repealed\">Al Mezan Center for Human Rights<\/a> (Gaza) issued a joint statement regarding the Israeli Attorney General\u2019s response to the petition against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adalah.org\/en\/content\/view\/9209\">Settlement Regularization Law<\/a> that he submitted yesterday to the Israeli Supreme Court.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Europe<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 22 November, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/2017lobby\/\">Palestine Solidarity Campaign<\/a> organized a meeting at the UK Parliament in London to lobby in support of the Palestinian cause.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 22 November, more than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eccpalestine.org\/over-120-human-rights-groups-urge-giro-ditalia-to-move-race-from-israel-due-to-violations-of-palestinians-rights\/\">120 human rights organizations<\/a>, trade unions, ethical tourism associations, sports and faith-based groups from over 20 countries <strong>issued an international call<\/strong> urging the premier cycling event Giro d\u2019Italia to move its 2018 \u201cBig Start\u201d from Israel because of the latter\u2019s grave and escalating violations of international law and Palestinians\u2019 human rights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 23 November, Friends of Alrowwad UK organized the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palestinecampaign.org\/events\/bethlehem-concert-london\/\">Bethlehem Concert<\/a> at Saint Paul\u2019s Church in London in order to fundraise for The Alrowwad Arts and Cultural Centre for women and children in Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>North America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 28 November, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palestine.mei.columbia.edu\/cps-events-fall-2017\/2017\/11\/28\/open-bethlehem\">Columbia University Center for Palestinian Studies<\/a> in New York will screen the documentary \u201cOpen Bethlehem,\u201d followed by a Q&amp;A session with its director Leila Sansour and Prof. Richard <em>Pe\u00f1a.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>From 29 November to 1 December, <a href=\"https:\/\/regardspalestiniens.wordpress.com\/\">Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise<\/a> in Montreal will host a Palestinian film festival featuring 19 works by 12 established and emerging artists, celebrating the revitalizing force of creativity and engaging in experimentation as a form of art.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 28 November, the New School in New York will be hosting a <a href=\"https:\/\/jewishvoiceforpeace.org\/press-releases\/\">panel on how to combat anti-Semitism today<\/a>, featuring Linda Sarsour (Director of the Arab American Association) and Rebecca Vilkomerson (Executive Director of Jewish Voice for Peace). The event is already sold out, but it will be live-streamed at <u>com\/JacobinMag<\/u>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Âé¶¹APP<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 29 November, the Âé¶¹APP will observe the annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/2017-solidarity-day\">International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People<\/a> at UN Headquarters in New York, pursuant to General Assembly resolution 32\/40 B of 2 December 1977. At the Special Meeting of 29 November, Salil Shetty, Secretary General of Amnesty International, will deliver a statement on behalf of his organization. The occasion marks the adoption by the General Assembly of resolution 181 (II) on 29 November 1947 partitioning the mandate of Palestine into two States.
