The event highlighted the challenges faced by Gazans in need of medical treatment outside the Strip, including attempts to recruit as informants patients who depend on Israeli permits to access medical services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 24 December, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acri.org.il\/en\/2017\/12\/24\/update-overview-of-anti-democratic-legislation-in-the-20th-knesset\/\"><u>Association for Civil Rights in Israel<\/u><\/a> (ACRI) published an overview, providing updated information and analysis of legislative initiatives introduced in the Israeli Knesset.<strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>North America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 24 December, <a href=\"https:\/\/palestinelegal.org\/news\/2017\/12\/27\/dima-and-rashid-khalidi-on-kpfks-middle-east-in-foucs\"><u>Palestine Legal<\/u><\/a> director Dima Khalidi and Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi discussed with Estee Chandler, host of the KPFK radio programme \u201c<em>Middle East in Focus<\/em>\u201d, the implications of the recent U.S. decision on Jerusalem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Latin America<\/u><\/strong><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regarding the position of Guatemala and Honduras on the status of Jerusalem, Chile\u2019s D\u00edarioUChile published on 29 December an interview with Rafael Araya Masry, President of the <a href=\"http:\/\/radio.uchile.cl\/2017\/12\/29\/por-que-paises-como-guatemala-y-honduras-apoyan-reconocimiento-de-jerusalen-como-capital-israeli\/\"><u>Confederaci\u00f3n Palestina de Am\u00e9rica Latina y del Caribe<\/u><\/a> (COPLAC). In a letter dated 26 December, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.federacionpalestina.cl\/noticia.php?id=3149\"><u>COPLAC<\/u><\/a> called on Guatemala\u2019s President Jimmy Morales to rescind the decision to move to Jerusalem its embassy to Israel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Asia<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From 20 to 22 December, the Chinese government hosted in Beijing a high-level meeting between Israeli and Palestinian delegations, organized in partnership with the track two diplomacy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geneva-accord.org\/\"><u>Geneva Initiative<\/u><\/a>. As reported in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geneva-accord.org\/mainmenu\/are-china-and-japan-the-new-peace-process-mediators\"><u>Jerusalem Pos<\/u>t<\/a> on 27 December, discussions resulted in a policy paper outlining steps to reignite the peace process and achieve a two-State solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Â鶹APP<\/u><\/strong><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 28 December, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ochaopt.org\/content\/2017-energy-crisis-worsens-fatality-toll-declines\"><u>OCHA<\/u><\/a> released its overview of trends affecting humanitarian needs in the OPT over the last year and published early warning indicators to monitor the evolution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/viewerng\/viewer?url=https:\/\/www.ochaopt.org\/sites\/default\/files\/early_warning_indicators_nov2017_1.pdf&amp;chrome=true\"><u>crisis in Gaza<\/u>,<\/a> trigger humanitarian action and prevent further deterioration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>At an event to close the <em>16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence<\/em> campaign on 10 December, <a href=\"http:\/\/palestine.unwomen.org\/en\/news-and-events\/stories\/2017\/12\/16-days-gaza-2017\"><u>UN Women<\/u><\/a> launched audio-visual materials highlighting the specific impact of the blockade on women in Gaza.
