The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the UN Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO Action News<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>23 March 2018<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Middle East<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 21 March, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezan.org\/en\/post\/22557\/Al+Mezan+and+partners%3A+briefing+note+on+torture+and+ill-treatment+in+the+occupied+Palestinian+territory+for+side+event%2C+37th+Human+Rights+Council+session+\">Al Mezan<\/a>, The World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) and Lawyers for Palestinian Human Rights published a briefing note on torture and ill-treatment in the OPT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 20 March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.btselem.org\/publications\/summaries\/201803_minors_in_jeopardy\">B\u2019Tselem &#8211; The Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories<\/a> released a new report on <em>\u201cMinors in Jeopardy: Violation of the Rights of Palestinian Minors by Israel\u2019s Military Courts\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 18 March, <a href=\"http:\/\/pchrgaza.org\/en\/?p=10508\">The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR)<\/a> condemned arbitrary measures taken against telecommunications companies in the context of investigations into the recent attack on the convoy of Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah in Gaza.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 18 March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adalah.org\/en\/content\/view\/9434\">Adalah<\/a> reported that an Israeli town in the Galilee region cancelled the sale of land for new home construction in the community after it became clear that more than 50% of those purchasing the plots were Arab citizens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 18 March, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezan.org\/en\/post\/22532\">Al Mezan<\/a> held a press conference to launch a report on the state of economic, social and cultural rights in the Gaza Strip in 2017.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>North America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 21 April, the <a href=\"http:\/\/gazaunlocked.org\/heartland\">American Friends Service Committee<\/a> is organizing in Indianapolis the one-day conference <em>\u201cGaza Unlocked: Hearing in the Heartland\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 28 March, the <a href=\"http:\/\/cambridgebethlehem.org\/\">Cambridge Bethlehem People to People Project<\/a> is hosting in Cambridge, MA, a talk with Zeiad Abbas Sharouch from the Middle East Children\u2019s Alliance and ACLU staff attorney Carl Williams on <em>\u201cIncarcerated Children in Palestine: Making the US Connections\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 29 March, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palestine.mei.columbia.edu\/cps-events-spring-2018\/2018\/3\/29\/routinizing-emergency-bureaucracy-as-a-security-threat\">Columbia University Centre for Palestine Studies<\/a> is organizing a talk on <em>\u201cRoutinizing Emergency: Bureaucracy as a Security Threat\u201d<\/em> with author and Hebrew University lecturer Yael Berda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 26 March, the <a href=\"https:\/\/fmep.org\/event\/united-states-israel-palestine-peace-process-past-future\/\">Foundation for Middle East Peace<\/a> is inviting to a panel discussion on <em>\u201cThe United States and the Israel-Palestine Peace Process, Past and Future\u201d<\/em>. The discussion will feature previous negotiators, advisors and participants who played influential roles in the peace process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 16 March, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejerusalemfund.org\/events\/upcoming\/dream-palace-americans-think-tanks-peace-process\">The Jerusalem Fund<\/a> hosted Osamah Khalil, Associate Professor of U.S. and Middle East History at Syracuse University, for a talk on his new book <em>\u201cDream Palace of the Americans: Think Tanks and the Peace Process\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.palestinechronicle.com\/next-logical-step-general-assembly-intervention-plan-gaip-end-maritime-siege-gaza\/\">The Palestine Chronicle<\/a> informed about a civil society initiative calling on the UN General Assembly to adopt a resolution under the Uniting for Peace doctrine as <em>\u201cthe next logical step to end the maritime siege of Gaza.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Latin America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 8 April, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.running4peru.com\/eventos\/bicicleteada-por-la-paz-en-palestina\">Club Uni\u00f3n \u00c1rabe Palestino<\/a> and the Federaci\u00f3n Palestina del Per\u00fa are organizing in Lima, Peru, the <em>\u201cThird Bike Ride for Peace in Palestine\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Europe<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To mark the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, on 12 and 13 May, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Trade Union Friends of Palestine and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.badil.org\/en\/publication\/press-releases\/87-2018\/4851-pr-en-210318-05.html\">Badil<\/a> will be hosting in Dublin the <em>\u201cOvercoming the Ongoing Nakba \u2013 Palestinian Freedom Conference\u201d<\/em>.<strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>From 7-21 April, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.france-palestine.org\/Festival-Le-Printemps-de-la-Palestine-2018\">Association France Palestine Solidarit\u00e9<\/a> will be organizing in cooperation with other organizations the festival <em>\u201cPrintemps de la Palestine\u201d<\/em> in \u00c9pinal, Nancy, Tomblaine, Vand\u0153uvre and Villers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 20 March, the <a href=\"http:\/\/europa.eu\/rapid\/press-release_IP-18-2081_en.htm\">European U<\/a>nion hosted in Brussels a pledging conference to mobilize financial support for the Gaza Central Desalination Plant &amp; Associated Works Project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Â鶹APP<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 28 March 2018, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/event\/389th-committee-meeting-28th-march-2018\/\">Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People<\/a> will hold its 389th meeting at UN Headquarters in New York. Members of the Committee will be briefed on the recent Committee delegation visit to Uganda and will consider upcoming activities. The Committee will also be updated by the UNRWA Representative Office in New York on recent developments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 21 March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.map.org.uk\/news\/archive\/post\/810-maps-delivers-statement-at-the-un-on-right-to-health-of-palestinians-\">Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)<\/a>\u2019s Director of Advocacy and Campaigns, Neil Sammonds, delivered at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva a statement on the right to health of Palestinians.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 20 March, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/EN\/NewsEvents\/Pages\/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=22859&amp;LangID=E\">Human Rights Council<\/a> held a general debate on the situation of human rights in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories, after hearing reports by the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 19 March, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/EN\/NewsEvents\/Pages\/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=22854&amp;LangID=E\">Michael Lynk<\/a>, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, warned in his latest report that the healthcare system for Palestinians living in Gaza was on the edge of collapse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This newsletter informs about recent and upcoming activities of Civil Society Organizations affiliated with the Â鶹APP Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
