More\u00a0will go to Gaza from the West Bank shipment soon.<\/p>\n<p>This batch follows the delivery of 102,960 doses of Pfizer vaccines the previous week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-ftrjjg-l-y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#PlayYourRole<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-ftrjjg-l-j\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#ProtectOthers<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-ftrjjg-l-t\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#GetVaccinated<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3><strong>WHO preparedness, readiness and response<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>WHO continues to work closely with partners to support Ministry of Health\u2019s (MoH) efforts to respond to the COVID-19\u00a0outbreak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Coordination,\u202fplanning\u202fand monitoring\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The state of emergency over COVID-19 decreed by President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank has been extended for a further 30 days,\u00a0starting\u00a0from\u00a0Wednesday 2\u00a0June<\/li>\n<li>Also on\u00a02 June,\u00a0WHO,\u00a0along\u00a0with\u00a0MoH, co-chaired\u00a0a meeting of the\u00a0Health\u00a0sub-Cluster in Gaza Strip, to\u00a0update partners on the health situation\u00a0and new emerging needs, including those related to COVID-19\u00a0emergency,\u00a0following the recent military\u00a0escalation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Surveillance<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The WHO risk assessment remains\u00a0high:\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0infections in the Gaza Strip have jumped higher in the wake of the recent escalations and as testing resumes; active new cases now account for a significant majority of\u00a0all\u00a0cases in the oPt, at 84%<\/li>\n<li>In the West Bank,\u00a0cases\u00a0have halved from the previous week,\u00a0while testing has increased with positivity staying low\u00a0for a second week\u00a0at around 5%<\/li>\n<li>The breakdown of active COVID-19 cases across the oPt is as follows:\u00a0Gaza Strip (84.4%), followed by\u00a0the West Bank governorates of Nablus (4.6%), Jenin (3.2%), Ramallah (2%), Tulkarm and Hebron both (1.5%), Bethlehem (0.8%) and Qalqilya, Tubas and Jericho all\u00a0(0.4%)<\/li>\n<li>The overall Case Fatality Rate (CFR)\u00a0across oPt\u00a0remains at\u00a01.1 %.\u00a0The CFR is the proportion of\u00a0deathsly\u00a0among identified confirmed\u00a0cases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Laboratory testing and diagnostics<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The number of tests conducted in the oPt has decreased by\u00a03% during the reporting period (28\u00a0May\u00a0\u2013\u00a03\u00a0June), with\u00a017,175\u00a0tests\u00a0conducted<\/li>\n<li>Since the beginning of the military hostilities in the Gaza Strip, COVID-19\u00a0testing has been limited to symptomatic people reporting to hospitals.\u00a0An average of 1,148 tests per day have been conducted over the past week (28\u00a0May\u00a0\u2013 3 June) with a positivity rate of\u00a025%<\/li>\n<li>WHO has assigned simple, easy to say and remember labels for key variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, using letters of the Greek alphabet. See the new labels here:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-ftrjjg-l-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.who.int\/activities\/tracking-SARS-CoV-2-variants<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Isolation and Case Management, Operations Support and Logistics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0overall occupancy rate of COVID-19 dedicated hospital beds in the\u00a0Gaza Strip is\u00a024%, with\u00a0106\u00a0of\u00a0441\u00a0beds occupied.\u00a0Currently,\u00a014\u00a0of the\u00a041\u00a0Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds\u00a0(34%) are\u00a0occupied. Vaccinated (as of 2 June 2021)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>344,260\u00a0people have been vaccinated in total across the oPt:\u00a0304,323\u00a0in\u00a0the West Bank\u00a0(excluding East Jerusalem), and\u00a039,937\u00a0in Gaza.\u00a0These figures represent around 7%\u00a0of the total Palestinian\u00a0population<\/li>\n<li>Of these numbers, the total who have received their second dose\u00a0are\u00a0228,083\u00a0in the oPt overall\u00a0(excluding East Jerusalem)<\/li>\n<li>The circa\u00a0110,000 Palestinian workers who have been vaccinated by Israel are included in the total numbers of vaccinated stated\u00a0above<\/li>\n<li>Health authorities\u00a0in the Gaza Strip\u00a0have\u00a0expanded vaccination capacity by increasing the number of\u00a0vaccination centers\u00a0to a
