clean your hands!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fyduulk-l-y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#HandHygiene<\/a>\u00a0supplies (alcohol-based hand rub, water, soap, towels) should be accessible anywhere to everyone<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fyduulk-l-j\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#CleanYourHands<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fyduulk-l-t\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#InfectionPrevention<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3><strong>WHO preparedness, readiness and response<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>WHO continues to work closely with partners to support Ministry of Health\u2019s (MoH) efforts to respond to the COVID-19\u00a0outbreak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Coordination,\u202fplanning\u202fand monitoring\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The state of emergency over COVID-19 decreed by President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank has been extended again for a further 30 days, from Monday 3 May until the start of June\u00a02021<\/li>\n<li>In Gaza, local authorities have eased the previously imposed restrictions, as follows:<\/li>\n<li>Lifting nightly curfew, allowing pedestrian movement and opening of shops<\/li>\n<li>Allowing vehicular movement until 12am on all days of the week, including Friday and Saturday<\/li>\n<li>Reopening mosques for night prayers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Surveillance<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The WHO risk assessment remains high:\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0infections in the Gaza Strip continue to\u00a0account for\u00a0the majority\u00a0of\u00a0all\u00a0cases in the oPt,\u00a0but active\u00a0new cases\u00a0are\u00a0slowly\u00a0in\u00a0decline,\u00a0and the positivity testing rate\u00a0is also down;\u00a0cases in the\u00a0West Bank\u00a0are following the same pattern &#8211;\u00a0but\u00a0hospitals\u00a0there\u00a0remain busy with critically ill\u00a0patients<\/li>\n<li>The breakdown of active COVID-19 cases across the oPt is as follows:\u00a0Gaza Strip (63.2%), followed by\u00a0the West Bank governorates of Nablus (13.2%), Tulkarm (7.2%), Ramallah\u00a0(4.1%),\u00a0Jenin\u00a0(3.8%),\u00a0Hebron\u00a0(3.2%),\u00a0Qalqilya\u00a0(1.5%)\u00a0and Bethlehem and Tubas both\u00a0(0.7%)<\/li>\n<li>The overall Case Fatality Rate (CFR)\u00a0across oPt\u00a0remains at\u00a01.1 %.\u00a0The CFR is the proportion of deaths among identified confirmed\u00a0cases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Laboratory testing and diagnostics<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The number of tests conducted in the oPt has decreased by\u00a020% during the reporting period (30 April\u00a0\u2013 6 May), with\u00a023,718\u00a0tests\u00a0conducted<\/li>\n<li>In the Gaza Strip, an average of\u00a01,644\u00a0tests per day have been conducted over the past week (30\u00a0April\u00a0\u2013 6 May) with a positivity rate of\u00a028%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Isolation and Case Management, Operations Support and Logistics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0overall occupancy rate of COVID-19 dedicated hospital beds in the\u00a0Gaza Strip is\u00a043%, with\u00a0250\u00a0of 587\u00a0beds occupied.\u00a0Currently,\u00a035\u00a0of the\u00a077\u00a0Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds\u00a0(45%) are occupied, with four patients requiring\u00a0invasive mechanical ventilation<\/li>\n<li>The medical response situation\u00a0in the West Bank\u00a0remains\u00a0largely unchanged: ICU bed occupancy\u00a0is a little lower at 78%\u00a0(136\u00a0ICU beds\u00a0occupied) &#8211; Cooperation<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>COVID-19 Vaccination Update<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/i6.createsend1.com\/ei\/j\/4E\/A47\/70A\/013913\/csfinal\/GREEN-9900000000079e3c.PNG\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Latest\u00a0vaccine\u00a0arrivals<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>PA Health Minister Mai\u00a0Alkaileh\u00a0stated on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fyduulk-l-h\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Voice of Palestine radio<\/a>\u00a0(20 April)\u00a0that the OPt\u00a0has bought 4.5 million doses of the\u00a0Pfizer and Sputnik V coronavirus vaccines at a cost of $27.5 million.\u00a0Alkaila\u00a0said the vaccines will arrive \u2018soon\u2019<\/li>\n<li>A donation of 20,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine\u00a0from the Russian Federation\u00a0to the PA\u00a0MoH\u00a0arrived in\u00a0the oPt\u00a0on\u00a029 April.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vaccination coverage<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>301,643\u00a0people have been vaccinated in total across the oPt:\u00a0263,475\u00a0in the West Bank\u00a0(excluding East Jerusalem), and 38,168\u00a0in Gaza.\u00a0These figures represent around 6%\u00a0of the total Palestinian\u00a0population,\u00a0and\u00a08% of those targeted for vaccination, according to the PA\u00a0MoH<\/li>\n<li>Of these numbers, the total who have received their second dose are\u00a0193,127\u00a0in the oPt overall\u00a0(excluding East Jerusalem)<\/li>\n<li>According to the report received from the COGAT,\u00a0Israel completed\u00a0on 20 April its &#8216;second phase\u2019 of vaccinating\u00a0around\u00a0110,000 Palestinian workers.\u00a0These\u00a0numbers are included in the total numbers of vaccinated stated\u00a0above<\/li>\n<li>A recent study from the Public Health England shows that\u00a0the UK COVID-19 vaccination\u00a0programme\u00a0has prevented 10,400 deaths in those aged 60 and older up to the end of March, referring to the use of its three approved vaccines including AstraZeneca (<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fyduulk-l-k\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t miss our next SITREP which will be in two weeks&#8217;
