Question<\/u>:\u00a0 Thank you, St\u00e9phane.\u00a0 I was wondering: \u00a0the panel today<\/a>, this morning, about Palestine, it was organized by the UN Committee on Palestinian Inalienable Rights.\u00a0 It\u2019s a UN body, the Committee.\u00a0 Why it was not announced in the noon briefing?\u00a0 Why there was no mention of this?<\/p>\n

Spokesman<\/u>:\u00a0 It\u2019s\u2026 I think, traditionally, we flag meetings of the Security Council that involve resolutions that impact the Secretariat.\u00a0 We don\u2019t flag every meeting of the Security Council.\u00a0 We don\u2019t flag every meeting of the General Assembly, and we don\u2019t flag every meeting of any legislative body that occurs.\u00a0 So, I mean, it has no implication on how we\u2026 on the seriousness of the event.\u00a0 It was a Member State event, but we don\u2019t usually flag every Member State event that takes place.<\/p>\n

Correspondent<\/u>:\u00a0 It\u2019s a UN Committee event, just to\u2026<\/p>\n

Spokesman<\/u>:\u00a0 I understand.\u00a0 It\u2019s\u2026 I\u2019m not disputing it\u2019s an official UN Committee.\u00a0 A lot of committees meet all the time.\u00a0 We don\u2019t proactively flag all of those meetings, like we don\u2019t proactively flag every meeting of the Security Council.<\/p>\n

Question<\/u>:\u00a0 As a follow\u2011up, Mr.\u00a0Dujarric, there are 24\u00a0days\u2026 or 26\u00a0days left before annexation, and every country in the world or\u2026 is talking about this annexation.\u00a0 We haven\u2019t heard from the Secretary\u2011General, as it is, from him a statement in the name of the Secretary\u2011General about this annexation.\u00a0 I know the, you know, general statement about this position on annexation, but this is a major development.\u00a0 How can he be silent when there is 30\u00a0per cent of Palestinian\u2011occupied land annexed by Israel?<\/p>\n

Spokesman<\/u>:\u00a0 Again, you and I are on these parallel roads.\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe he\u2019s been silent, whether it\u2019s a statement\u2026 whether it\u2019s something that I read out or Mr.\u00a0Mladenov reads out in the Secretary\u2011General\u2019s name.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think Nickolay Mladenov could have been clearer in a public meeting of the Security Council in underscoring the Secretary\u2011General\u2019s grave, grave concern and the grave impact it could have if annexation goes through.\u00a0 All right.\u00a0 If anyone has a question, just open your mic, because I\u2019m just not seeing\u2026<\/p>\n
