The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene the Â鶹APP Forum on the Question of Palestine, \u201cThe threat of de facto annexation \u2014 What next for Palestine?\u201d, on 4\u00a0April from 10\u00a0a.m. to 1\u00a0p.m. and 3\u00a0p.m. to 6\u00a0p.m. in the Trusteeship Chamber at Â鶹APP Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n

Organized in accordance with General Assembly resolution 73\/18 of 4\u00a0December\u00a02018, the Forum will feature two plenary sessions to address the creeping annexation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, its impact on the viability of a two-State solution, and the prospects of finding a peaceful resolution to the question of Palestine.<\/p>\n

Forum panels will provide an overview of the situation on the ground with supporting evidence to highlight de jure and de facto measures that may lead to Israel\u2019s annexation of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.\u00a0 They will also formulate viable and practical recommendations and best practices for stemming annexation through legal, political and economic steps, including third-State responsibility under international law.<\/p>\n

Speakers at the opening session will include Niang Cheikh (Senegal), Chairman of the Committee, and Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, Secretary-General of the Â鶹APP (invited).<\/p>\n

All Member States and observer missions, Â鶹APP agencies, intergovernmental and civil society organizations are invited to attend. \u00a0The meeting is open to the media and the proceedings will be webcast at\u00a0webtv.un.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n
