The funding gap of $101 million could keep 500,000 Palestinian students out of school this fall. NUT is the largest union of teachers in Britain and is promoting the project with the collaboration of the children’s education charity Edukid and the General Union of Palestinian Teachers. According to the report, based on Palestinian sources, Israeli officials passed a message to the Palestinian Authority that no talks are conducted between Israel and the Gaza-ruling Hamas, despite previous reports to the contrary. The move comes after several reports in local and international media outlets claimed Israeli officials are carrying out indirect talks with Hamas officials to reach understandings that would be the foundation for a long-term truce. (Middle East Monitor)<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n In remarks during an emergency meeting of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee, Palestinian President Abbas has called on the United States not to give too much attention to the Iranian nuclear deal at the expense of the Palestinian cause, saying that “Nothing might happen regarding the peace process until the end of this year.” President Abbas also called on Hamas to negotiate over the formation of a national unity government and the holding of presidential and parliamentarian elections. The committee also called for regional and international discussions for a new draft resolution by the UN Security Council about the terrorism by Israeli settlers against Palestinians The draft requests the Council to bear its responsibility for bringing an end to Israeli settlement building in the land earmarked for the State of Palestine, especially in occupied East Jerusalem. (Middle East Monitor)<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n The Israeli Air Force struck a Hamas military post in the central Gaza Strip injuring at least four Palestinians on 7 August, hours after a rocket fired from the enclave landed in Israeli territory north of Kissufim, east of the Gaza Strip. (Israel News, Ma’an News Agency)<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n On 7 August the Secretary-General of the Âé¶¹APP condemned the numerous rockets launched from Gaza towards Israel over the last week and stated his concern over recent violence in the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. The Secretary-General reiterated that only the realization of a two state solution can sustainably put an end to violence. (Âé¶¹APP Statement)<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n 8<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n The father of Palestinian baby, who was burned to death in an arson attack on the Dawabsheh family home in the village of Duma, died of his wounds on 8 August. The mother and elder son are still fighting for their lives. Riots broke out hours after the funeral when Palestinians threw rocks at Israeli Defence Force troops and burned tires. No injuries reported. (Israel News, The Times of Israel)<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n Israeli troops shot and injured a Palestinian teenager east of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip on 8 August. An Israeli army spokesperson said the minor was shot because he approached the border fence separating Gaza from Israeli-controlled territories. \n
