Statement by Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius After a Conversation With U.S. Sec. of State John Kerry <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Paris, July 19, 2013. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has informed me of the terms of an agreement in principle that he just concluded with a view to re-starting Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. I told him that we welcome this prospect. I applaud the sense of responsibility demonstrated by the Israeli and Palestinian authorities.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

France urges the parties to effectively carry out these negotiations by creating a climate of dialogue and trust in order to reach an agreement. It is in everyone´s interest to bring an end to the conflict through the creation of a viable and sovereign Palestinian state living in peace and security alongside Israel.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Together with its European partners, France will spare no effort to facilitate negotiations and to participate, when the time comes, in implementing a peace agreement.<\/p><\/div>\n
