The Lebanon Crisis Health Cluster Bulletin aims to give an overview of the health activities conducted by the health cluster partners in relation to the latest Lebanon conflict as well as the crisis in the Palestinian camps. It compiles health information received from the different organizations working in the most affected areas.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The Health Cluster Bulletin will be issued every other Wednesday.<\/p><\/div>\n

Health Response to the Humanitarian Crisis<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

National and international Health Cluster partners are providing support in four core areas:<\/p><\/div>\n

Nahr El-Bared Crisis<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

• According to UNRWA, no significant change in the incidence of common communicable diseases as reported by Nahr el-Bared, Beddawi, Mobile and Mina clinics. The disease trend in Nahr el-Bared camp is similar to that observed in Beddawi camp. The reported diseases included, psychological trauma, hypertensive crises, fractures, cut wounds, infected wounds, skin infections, upper respiratory tract infections, bronchial asthma, etc. So far, there were no reports on symptoms and signs related to sand fly disease among the returnees.<\/p><\/div>\n

• The Twentieth Health Cluster meeting was held on December 11 at UNRWA Lebanon Field Office in Beirut. The next meeting is planned for January 8, 2007, same timing and venue.<\/p><\/div>\n

3. Filling health gaps<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

Nahr El-Bared Crisis<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

• UNRWA health clinic in Nahr El Bared‘s new camp continues the provision of its Primary Health Care services. Around 60 patients are consulting daily.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• UNRWA Beddawi clinic double shifts continue. The working hours are until 17:30 all days of the week except for Saturdays and Sundays where it operates only in the morning.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) clinics in sector “A” and “B” of Naher El-Bared new camp continue to provide specialized health services.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• UNRWA, International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) and Islamic relief continues their efforts to rehabilitate the main network of water.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• UNRWA, UNDP and EDL work regarding the restoration of the electricity to sectors “B“ and “C” progress. As of next week, electricity and public lighting could be available in these sectors with the temporary transformers. Assessments for sectors “A”, “D” and “E” will be finalized soon.<\/p><\/div>\n
