The Delegation of Israel to the regular 42<\/span>nd<\/sup><\/span> General Conference of the IAEA rejects the continued efforts of several Member States to pursue political issues through the General Committee, as reflected in Document <\/span>GC(42)\/22<\/a> of 23 September 1998, addressed to the Chairman of the Credentials Committee, General Conference of the IAEA. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

As clearly outlined in Article VI of the "Rules of Procedure of the General Conference<\/u>", the procedure of credentials examination is solely intended to ensure that credentials of delegations have been properly issued and timely presented. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

This procedure is in no way a political one; nor is it intended to be used as a means for advancing political interests. The content of the above-mentioned document is therefore irrelevant to the important tasks of the General Committee and is foreign to the purpose and duties of the IAEA and this General Conference. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Delegation of Israel requests that this document be included in Conference's report and be treated as an official document of the Conference. <\/p><\/div>\n
