The meeting, hosted by the World Bank, launched a process of resource mobilization for a Feasibility Study and Environmental and Social Assessment for the Red Sea &#8211; Dead Sea Water Conveyance Study.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">This Study will investigate the feasibility of transferring water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea in order to address the declining level of the Dead Sea, which is currently falling at a rate of approximately one meter per year.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Over the past three years, Jordanian, Israeli and Palestinian specialists have worked together to prepare and finalize the Terms of Reference for the Study.&#160; All three delegations stressed the importance of this partnership to address an environmental and water resource challenge of global interest and significance.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The Study itself is expected to take approximately two years to complete at an estimated cost of $15.5 million.
