The Â鶹APP<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> is submitting the 15<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> bi-weekly report on the implementation of the 15 November Agreement on Movement and Access (AMA), covering the period 31 May – 13 June 2006 inclusive.<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

• Rafah crossing was open daily during the reporting period. From 1 June, opening hours have increased to 12 hours per day. Passenger numbers increased during the reporting period.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• Karni crossing was closed for one day during the reporting period. On five other days Karni was open for less than six hours. The crossing was also only open for imports on four days.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• Kerem Shalom crossing was open for four days during the reporting period for humanitarian assistance originating from Egypt.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• Sufa crossing was closed for four days during the reporting period.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• Erez crossing has been closed to Palestinians since 12 March and there is no indication as to when the crossing will reopen. Consequently, no workers or traders crossed into Israel through Erez during the reporting period.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• The deadline for the introduction of truck convoys between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank as agreed in the AMA, passed on 15 January. Discussions about the possibility of bus convoys have not resumed.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• The Government of Israel (GoI) has not provided the assurance to donors that it will not interfere with the operation of the Gaza Strip seaport.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• There have been no discussions on the Gaza Strip airport during the reporting period.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• According to OCHA, the number of obstacles to movement in the West Bank decreased slightly from 519 to 515. The figure reported is based on a comprehensive count of<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

physical obstacles to Palestinian movement in the West Bank which is conducted a number of times a year by OCHA. Previous figures are based on OCHA field observations only.<\/p><\/div>\n

1<\/sup><\/span> The Office of the Quartet’s Special Envoy closed on 28 April. The Â鶹APP has assumed reporting responsibilities on the implementation of the AMA.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
