UNICEF Statement on violence against children in Jerusalem and the West Bank<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

N<\/strong><\/span>EW YORK, 2 July 2014<\/strong><\/span> – “The justified outrage at the killing of a Palestinian teenager in Jerusalem today, and that seen at the funerals yesterday of three young Israelis murdered in the West Bank, are a reminder that we must never become accustomed to such attacks against children, anywhere, in any way, and at any time.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

“We condemn all these most recent killings because they are terrible crimes and also because nothing could be more damaging to hopes for peace in the region.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“Killing children and deliberate violence against them are unpardonable crimes for which perpetrators must be held accountable.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“UNICEF extends its deepest condolences to the families of the murdered children. We reiterate the UN Secretary-General’s call for restraint to prevent further loss of life. And we remind all parties to the conflict of their legal and moral obligation to protect children from harm.”<\/p><\/div>\n
