WEDNESDAY SEPT 8 – UNRWA TO OPEN REPLACEMENT SHELTERS<\/u>
\nAND A SCHOOL IN RAFAH<\/u><\/strong>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

GAZA<\/u><\/strong>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The Â鶹APP Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is to open 103 new shelters for Rafah families whose homes have been demolished during the intifada.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Buses taking journalists from UNRWA’s Gaza City Headquarters on Talatini St. will depart at 09:30hrs on WEDNESDAY SEPT. 8th.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

At a short ceremony to inaugurate the homes and give keys to the beneficiaries, Peter Hansen, UNRWA’s Commissioner-General, will make a statement on house demolitions.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

From September 2000 until the end of August 2004, 23,740 people in Gaza had lost their homes in Israeli demolition operations.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Correspondents will have the opportunity to interview Mr Hansen and should be back in Gaza City by 13:00hrs.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The new homes have been funded with donations from Norway, Italy and the USA.<\/p><\/div>\n
