France condemns the Israeli authorities’ decision to issue calls for tender for the construction of almost 1,500 homes in the Israeli settlements of East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Indeed, it reaffirms that settlement activity is illegal under international law and constitutes an obstacle to a just peace based on the two-state solution.<\/p><\/div>\n

While every effort must be made to ensure the resumption of the negotiations with a view to finding a definitive solution to the conflict, it urges all parties to avoid any gesture likely to undermine this goal.<\/p><\/div>\n
