UN envoy, Annan condemn suicide attack in Tel Aviv market<\/strong><\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

1 November 2004 <\/i><\/span>– <\/i><\/span>Top Â鶹APP officials today denounced a suicide attack of a market in Israel, which killed at least three people and wounded many more. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

A statement issued in Jerusalem for Terje Roed-Larsen said he "condemns in the strongest terms this terrorist act" Monday at the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv. <\/p><\/div>\n

Mr. Roed-Larsen, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, reiterated "his firm belief" that nothing can justify terror. "He expects the Palestinian Authority to act without delay against those organizing and perpetrating terror and to bring them to justice," the statement said. <\/p><\/div>\n

He also extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Israel and wished for a speedy recovery of the wounded. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Meanwhile, Secretary-General Kofi Annan strongly endorsed Mr. Roed-Larsen's statement, Mr. Annan's spokesman <\/span>said<\/u><\/a> <\/span>in New York. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

"He reiterates his long-standing and adamant opposition to all terrorist attacks, from whatever quarter," Fred Eckhard said, adding that the Secretary-General also sends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims of today's attack.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
