THAT BASIS ESTABLISHED TO RESUME ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN TALKS<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

The Secretary-General welcomes the announcement by United States Secretary of State [John] Kerry today in Amman, Jordan, that the basis has been established to resume talks between Israelis and Palestinians.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

The Secretary-General commends Secretary Kerry’s efforts and the decision by the parties to return to the negotiating table.  He is encouraged by this positive development and calls on both sides to show leadership, courage, and responsibility to sustain this effort towards achieving the two-State vision.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

The Â鶹APP will support any endeavour towards meaningful negotiations and to the achievement of a comprehensive peace in the region.<\/p><\/div>\n
