Continued Swedish participation in Hebron<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Government decided today to continue Swedish participation in the civilian observer mission Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), which monitors the situation in the West Bank city of Hebron in occupied Palestinian territory.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The observer mission was set up at the request of the Israeli government and the PLO. The mandate has been extended for a period of three months and will then be automatically extended for a further three months provided none of the parties objects.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

TIPH comprises 58 observers from Norway, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Switzerland and Sweden. Sweden has participated in the observer mission since February 1997.<\/p><\/div>\n
