The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Brian Cowen T.D., will lead the European Union Delegation at a meeting of the international Quartet on the Middle East in New York on 4 May. The Minister will be accompanied by High Representative Dr.Javier Solana and Commissioner for External Relations Chris Patten.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Quartet meeting is being hosted by the Secretary General of the Â鶹APP, Mr. Kofi Annan, and will be attended by the US Secretary of State, Colin Powell and the Foreign Minister of Russia, Mr. Sergei Lavrov.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Quartet is due to discuss recent developments in the Middle East and the international reaction to a possible Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. The Quartet last met at this level on 26 September 2003.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
