Change of command in TIPH<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Brigadier General<\/span> <\/span>Britt T. B. Brestrup<\/span> <\/span>is replacing Brigadier General Roy C. Gr<\/span> <\/span>ø<\/span> <\/span>ttheim as Head of Mission for the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) on the 28 <\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> of April 2009. Mr. Roy C. Gr ø<\/span> <\/span>ttheim leaves the mission as scheduled after serving one year and three months as Head of Mission.<\/span> <\/span>Britt T. B. Brestrup<\/span> <\/span>will lead a group of 64 civilian observers from six countries (Denmark, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey), observing and reporting in Hebron. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Brigadier General<\/span> <\/span>Britt T. B. Brestrup<\/span> <\/span>served as principal aide-de-camp to the King of Norway and as the deputy commandant at the Norwegian National Defense College previous to being appointed as the new Head of Mission for TIPH. Her international experience covers peacekeeping, military observer missions and civilian humanitarian missions in the Middle East and in Europe. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

– After working in several international missions I look forward to starting my work in this important mission in Hebron,<\/span> <\/span>Britt T. B. Brestrup<\/span> <\/span>says. Together we will continue our efforts to improve the situation in Hebron.<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

TIPH is a civilian observer mission in the West Bank city of Hebron. TIPH was called for during the Oslo peace talks by the Palestinian Authority and the Government of Israel to assist them in their efforts to restore normalcy to the city of Hebron. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

TIPH observes and reports on breaches of the agreements on Hebron and human rights law to the Israeli and Palestinian parties.<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
