Report of the Secretary-General<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>At its thirty-eighth session, the General Assembly adopted resolution 38\/69 of 15 December 1983, the operative part of which read as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"The General Assembly<\/u>,\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"…\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"1.\t<\/span>Condemns<\/u> Israel's refusal to renounce any possession of nuclear weapons and to place all its nuclear activities under international safeguards;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"2.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the Security Council to take urgent and effective measures to implement its resolution 487 (1981) and to ensure that Israel complies with the resolution and places its nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"3.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the International Atomic Energy Agency to suspend any scientific co-operation with Israel which could contribute to Israel's nuclear capabilities;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"4.\t<\/span>Reiterates<\/u> its condemnation of the Israeli threat, in violation of the Charter of the Â鶹APP, to repeat its armed attack on peaceful nuclear facilities in Iraq and in other countries;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"5.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the Secretary-General to continue to follow closely Israel's nuclear activities and the nuclear and military collaboration between Israel and South Africa and to report to the General Assembly at its thirty-ninth session thereon, as appropriate;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"6.\t<\/span>Decides<\/u> to include in the provisional agenda of its thirty-ninth session the item entitled 'Israeli nuclear armament'."\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>Under paragraph 5 of the resolution, the Secretary-General was requested to continue to follow closely Israel's nuclear activities and the nuclear and military collaboration between Israel and South Africa. In connection with that request, the Secretary-General wishes to report that he has received no new information in this regard and consequently has nothing to add to his earlier reports to the General Assembly on the subject (A\/37\/434 and A\/38\/199).<\/p><\/div>\n
