Letter dated 5 November 1997 from the Chairman of the<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

the Palestinian People addressed to the President<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

of the General Assembly<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to inform you that, by a note verbale dated 10 October 1997 addressed to the Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, the Permanent Mission of South Africa requested that it be considered a member of the Committee, to which it had already been granted observer status.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, at its 232nd meeting, on 5 November 1997, welcomed this decision by South Africa and approved its request, which reflects the growing international support for the Committee's efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the question of Palestine.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>In the light of the above, and since the membership of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People has been established by the General Assembly, I have the honour to request you to bring the matter to the attention of the Assembly for its approval.<\/p><\/div>\n
