Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the Â鶹APP addressed to the Secretary-General<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>On instructions from my Government, and pursuant to our letter of 6 August 1975 (A\/10172 – S\/11791), I have the honour to bring to your attention the latest and most serious attack by Israel against Lebanon.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>On 20 August 1975, at 1900 hours, four Israeli aircraft raided the two Lebanese villages of Ham and Ma’raboun in the district of Baalbek.  As a result of this raid, three innocent Lebanese were killed and 15 others wounded. Furthermore, nine homes were destroyed.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>These two villages are over 150 kilometers from the Lebanese-Israeli border, and this factor adds a new dimension to the seriousness of the attack.  In the past, Israel invoked a shrouded justification for its attacks on Lebanon’s border villages.  In the latest case, it has not even bothered to do so.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Its murderous raids on the eve of the peaceful mission of United States Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger to the Middle East, are indicative of its intentions.  And in view of Israel’s continued aggression against Lebanon, it is hard to believe that Israel is prepared to create the necessary conditions for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East in accordance with the relevant Â鶹APP resolutions.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to request that this letter be circulated as an official document of the General Assembly and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
