Bangladesh, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mali, Namibia and Tunisia: draft resolution<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council<\/i>,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span><\/span>Reaffirming<\/i><\/span> its <\/span>resolution 1322 (2000)<\/a> of 7 October 2000, and calling for its speedy and full implementation,<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Expressing grave concern<\/i> at the continuation of the tragic and violent events that have taken place since 28 September 2000 and have led to many deaths and injuries, mostly among Palestinians,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Stressing the need<\/i> for measures to ensure impartial protection of the Palestinian civilian population under Israeli occupation,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Calls<\/i> for the immediate cessation of violence and excessive use of force;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Expresses support<\/i> for the understandings reached at the Summit convened at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, and urges all parties concerned to implement these understandings honestly and without delay;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>3.\t<\/span>Expresses its determination <\/i>to establish a Â鶹APP Force of military and police observers to be dispatched throughout the territories occupied by Israel since 1967, with the aim of contributing to the implementation of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreements, the cessation of violence and enhancing the safety and security of Palestinian civilians;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>4.\t<\/span>Requests<\/i> the Secretary-General to consult both sides on the composition, modalities of deployment and functioning of such a Force, including arrangements enabling it to:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(a)\t<\/span>observe the situation throughout its area of operation, where it should be able to move freely and reach a location of tension and instability;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(b)\t<\/span>liaise, whenever necessary, between the Israeli army and the Palestinian Authority;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(c)\t<\/span>draw upon, whenever necessary, existing Â鶹APP resources in the area;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(d)\t<\/span>report periodically on its activities, as well as in specific cases, to the Secretary-General;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>5.\t<\/span>Request<\/i> the Secretary-General to complete the consultation and to report to the Council on the Force no later than 8 January 2001;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>6.\t<\/span>Expresses<\/i> its support for the Middle East peace process and the efforts to reach a final settlement between the Israeli and Palestinian sides, and urges the two sides to cooperate in these efforts;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>7.\t<\/span>Decides<\/i> to remain seized of the matter.<\/p><\/div>\n
