\t<\/span>On behalf of the Council of Arab Permanent Representatives, Members of the League of Arab States, I would like to inform you that in the light of the tragic events taking place in Palestine, the Council of Arab Permanent Representatives convened an urgent meeting on 3 October 2000 to discuss the grave and massive violations of the human rights of the Palestinian people by the Israeli occupying power.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>In this regard, the Council of Arab Permanent Representatives authorized me, in accordance with Economic and Social Council resolution 1990\/48 of 25 May 1990 and its decision 1993\/286 of 28 July 1993, to request the convening of a special session of the Commission on Human Rights to discuss this matter.<\/p><\/div>\n
