\t<\/span>In my capacity as Chairman of the Group of Arab States for the month of August 1988, I have the honour to transmit to you herewith the letter of the Alternate Permanent Observer of the Observer Mission of the Palestine Liberation Organization to the Â鶹APP in New York concerning the recent tragic events in the occupied territories of Palestine.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would arrange for this letter and its annex to be circulated as an official document of the General Assembly under items 37 and 77 of the provisional agenda.<\/p><\/div>\n

Letter dated 17 August 1988 from the Alternate Permanent<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Observer of the Palestine Liberation Organization to the<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Â鶹APP addressed to the Secretary-General<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I am instructed by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization to bring the following to your immediate attention. On 16 August 1988, Israeli troops at the Al-Ansar detention camp in Q'iseot, Negev, opened fire on Palestinian detainees, killing two and wounding numerous others.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>On 9 August 1988, three Palestinian workers from Gaza employed in Tel Aviv were locked into their accommodation and fire was deliberately set to the place. The three Palestinians who were burned to death are Said Ismail Abed, Naseem Ibrahim Abed and Khalil El-Abadla.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>During the course of the past two days, Israeli occupation authorities have assassinated two Palestinian prisoners, Nabil Mustapha B'daa and Ataa Yussef Ayaad.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The situation in the occupied Palestinian territories is extremely grave and calls for immediate action by the international community. In bringing the afore-mentioned to your attention, the Palestine Liberation Organization requests that immediate and appropriate measures be taken to bring adequate pressure on Israel, the occupying Power, to ensure respect for the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949.<\/p><\/div>\n
