1994\/35. Assistance for the reconstruction and development of Lebanon<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Economic and Social Council<\/u>, <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Taking note<\/u> of General Assembly decision 48\/450 of 21 December 1993 on assistance for the reconstruction and development of Lebanon, <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Recalling<\/u> the relevant resolutions of the Economic and Social Council, in which the Council called upon the specialized agencies and other organizations and bodies of the Â鶹APP system to expand and intensify their programmes of assistance in response to the urgent needs of Lebanon, <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Aware<\/u> of the magnitude of the country's requirements, subsequent to the vast destruction of its infrastructure, which has impeded national rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts and adversely affected economic and social conditions, <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Reaffirming<\/u> the great need to continue to assist the Government of Lebanon in the reconstruction of the country and the recovery of its human and economic potential, <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Expressing its appreciation<\/u> for the efforts of the Secretary-General in mobilizing assistance for Lebanon, <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>Appeals<\/u> to all Member States and all organizations of the Â鶹APP system to intensify their efforts to mobilize all possible assistance for the Government of Lebanon in its reconstruction and development efforts; <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> all organizations and programmes of the Â鶹APP system to intensify their assistance in response to the urgent needs of Lebanon, especially in the technical and training fields; <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

3.\t<\/span>Invites<\/u> the Secretary-General to inform the Council at its substantive session of 1995 of the progress made in the implementation of the present resolution.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
