\t<\/span>The Human Rights Council<\/i>,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling<\/i> its resolutions S-1\/1 of 6 July 2006 and S-3\/1 of 15 November 2006,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Noting with regret <\/i>that Israel, the occupying Power, has not to date implemented these two resolutions and hindered the dispatching of the urgent fact-finding missions specified therein,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span><\/i>1.\t<\/span>Calls <\/i>for the implementation of its resolutions S-1\/1 of 6 July 2006 and S-3\/1 of 15 November 2006, including the dispatching of the urgent fact-finding missions;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span><\/i>2.\t<\/span>Requests <\/i>the President of the Human Rights Council and the Â鶹APP High Commissioner for Human Rights to report to the Council at the next session to be held in September 2007, on their efforts for the implementation of Council resolutions S-1\/1 and S-3\/1 and on the compliance of Israel, the occupying Power, with these two resolutions.<\/p><\/div>\n

23.\t<\/span>On 20 June, the Council considered and took action on the draft proposals which had been deferred from the fifth session, pursuant to its decision 5\/102 adopted at the 9th meeting, on 18 June.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

24.\t<\/span>On the same day, the Council decided, without a vote, to refer to its September session the following draft proposals deferred to the fifth session pursuant to Council decision 4\/105 of 30 March 2007:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

–\t<\/span>A\/HRC\/2\/L.19 entitled “The use of mercenaries as a means of violating human rights and impeding the exercise of the right of peoples to self-determination”;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

–\t<\/span>A\/HRC\/2\/L.30 entitled “World Programme for Human Rights Education”;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

–\t<\/span><\/span>A\/HRC\/4\/L.3<\/a> entitled “Israeli violations of religious and cultural rights in Occupied East Jerusalem”.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory: follow-up to Human Rights Council resolutions S-1\/1 and S-3\/1<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

30.\t<\/span>On 20 June 2007, the representative of Pakistan (on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Group of Arab States) introduced draft resolution <\/span>A\/HRC\/5\/L.5<\/a>, sponsored by Pakistan (on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference) and the Sudan (on behalf of the Group of Arab States). Cuba subsequently joined the sponsors.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

31.\t<\/span>Statements in connection with the draft resolution were made by the observers for Israel and Palestine, as concerned countries, or parties.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

32.\t<\/span>The draft resolution was adopted without a vote.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

33.\t<\/span>Statements in explanation of vote after the vote were made by the representatives of Canada and Germany (on behalf of the European Union).<\/p><\/div>\n

41.\t<\/span>On 20 June, the President informed the Council that the main sponsors of draft decision <\/span>A\/HRC\/4\/L.4<\/a> entitled “Human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory” (which had been deferred to the fifth session pursuant to Council resolution 4\/105 of 30 March 2007) had decided to withdraw the draft decision.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
