I.  INTRODUCTION<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>The previous recommendations made by the Fifth Committee to the General Assembly under agenda item 130 (b) appear in the report of the Committee contained in document <\/span>A\/48\/813<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>At its 54th and 60th meetings, on 23 and 31 March 1994, the Fifth Committee considered the item entitled "Financing of the Â鶹APP peace-keeping forces in the Middle East:  Â鶹APP Interim Force in Lebanon".  Statements and observations made in the course of the Committee's consideration of the item are reflected in the relevant summary records (A\/C.5\/48\/SR.54 and 60).<\/p><\/div>\n

II.  CONSIDERATION OF A DRAFT DECISION PRESENTED ORALLY BY THE RAPPORTEUR                            <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

3.\t<\/span>At the 60th meeting, on 31 March, the Rapporteur of the Fifth Committee, on the basis of informal consultations, orally presented a draft decision entitled "Financing of the Â鶹APP Interim Force in Lebanon".<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

4.\t<\/span>At the same meeting, the Committee adopted without a vote the draft decision presented orally by the Rapporteur (see para. 5).<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

III.  RECOMMENDATION OF THE FIFTH COMMITTEE<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

5.\t<\/span>The Fifth Committee recommends to the General Assembly the adoption of the following draft decision:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Financing of the Â鶹APP Interim Force in Lebanon<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The General Assembly<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(a)\t<\/span>Recalls its decision 48\/464 of 23 December 1993 on the financing of the Â鶹APP Interim Force in Lebanon;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>(b)\t<\/span>Decides, on an exceptional basis, to authorize the Secretary-General to enter into commitments for the maintenance of the Force for the period from 1 April to 31 May 1994 in an amount of 23,714,000 United States dollars gross (22,949,000 dollars net) based on the pro rata<\/u> share of the amount recommended by the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions.<\/p><\/div>\n
