   The meeting was called to order at 12.25 p.m.<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Adoption of the agenda<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

   The agenda was adopted. <\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

The situation in the Middle East<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

    Report of the Secretary-General on the Â鶹APP Interim Force in Lebanon (<\/strong><\/span>S\/2003\/38<\/strong><\/a>)<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 The President<\/strong> (spoke in French<\/i>): The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  Members of the Council have before them the report of the Secretary-General on the Â鶹APP Interim Force in Lebanon, document S\/2003\/38. Members also have before them document S\/2003\/111, which contains the text of a draft resolution submitted by France.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  I should also like to draw the attention of the members of the Council to the following documents: <\/span>S\/2003\/36<\/a> and <\/span>S\/2003\/73<\/a>, which contain letters dated 9 and 20 January 2003, respectively, from the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of Lebanon addressed to the Secretary-General, and <\/span>S\/2003\/96<\/a>, which contains a letter dated 27 January 2003 from the Permanent Representative of Israel addressed to the Secretary-General. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  It is my understanding that the Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the draft resolution before it. Unless I hear any objection, I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  There being no objection, it is so decided.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

    A vote was taken by show of hands.<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 <\/span> The President<\/strong><\/span> (<\/span>spoke in French<\/i><\/span>): There were 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution <\/span>1461 (2003)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

    The meeting rose at 12.30 p.m.<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

\n
