The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, the President\u00a0of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the Prime Minister of the\u00a0Hellenic Republic, Mr Alexis Tsipras, met in Nicosia on 21 November 2017<\/p>\n

On the Palestinian issue, they called for a just, negotiated and lasting peace
\nsettlement entailing a two-state solution based on the relevant UN Security Council
\nResolutions, through the establishment of a sovereign, viable and contiguous
\nPalestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in
\npeace with all its neighbours. They also stressed that the two-state solution is the only
\nsolution that responds satisfactorily to Israeli and Palestinian security needs and
\nPalestinian aspirations.<\/p>\n
They recognised the instrumental role played by Egypt in the conclusion of the
\nagreement between Fatah and Hamas in Cairo, on 22 October 2017, aiming at intraPalestinian
\nreconciliation. They welcomed the full return of the Gaza crossings to the
\ncontrol of the Palestinian Authority as a significant development in the
\nimplementation of the agreement reached in Cairo. They underlined the importance
