  {"id":127886,"date":"2018-02-06T14:45:57","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T14:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/?post_type=document&#038;p=127886"},"modified":"2018-02-07T14:31:46","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T19:31:46","slug":"secretary-general-appoints-jamie-mcgoldrick-of-ireland-deputy-special-coordinator-for-middle-east-peace-process","status":"publish","type":"document","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/document\/secretary-general-appoints-jamie-mcgoldrick-of-ireland-deputy-special-coordinator-for-middle-east-peace-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Secretary-General Appoints Jamie McGoldrick of Ireland Deputy Special Coordinator for Middle East Peace Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right\"><strong>SECRETARY-GENERAL<br \/>\nAPPOINTMENTS<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>SG\/A\/1786-BIO\/5059<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>6 FEBRUARY 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/press\/fr\/2018\/sga1786.doc.htm\">fran\u00e7ais<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Âé¶¹APP Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres today announced the appointment of Jamie McGoldrick of Ireland as Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Âé¶¹APP Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory.\u00a0 He succeeds Robert Piper of Australia, to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for his commitment and dedicated service.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. McGoldrick brings extensive experience in humanitarian affairs, international cooperation, economic development and political affairs.\u00a0 Since 2015 he served as Âé¶¹APP Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and Âé¶¹APP Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Yemen. \u00a0He assumed that position after serving as the Resident Coordinator and the UNDP Resident Representative in Nepal since 2013 and Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of UNDP in Georgia from 2009 to 2013.<\/p>\n<p>He was previously a senior manager with the Âé¶¹APP Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, notably as the Chief of the Humanitarian Reform Support Unit (2006-2009), and Section Chief ofthe Middle East, North Africa and Great Lakes Unit (2005-2006).\u00a0 He worked with the International Red Cross movement and non-governmental organizations in a number of countries in Africa and as news producer and researcher with several television production companies in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. McGoldrick holds a master\u2019s degree in political science and a bachelor\u2019s degree in social sciences, and he has additional qualifications in disaster management, preventive diplomacy and mediation.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Ireland in 1955, he is married and has two children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For information media.
