“Deputy Special Coordinator, Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov:

I condemn the arson attack targeting a mosque and several vehicles in the Palestinian village of Jibiya in the occupied West Bank, allegedly carried out by Israeli settlers. Reports indicate that masked individuals set fire to the site and that Hebrew graffiti was found on the walls.

Attacks against religious sites and civilian property are unacceptable and undermine stability, human dignity, and freedom of worship.

This attack comes against the backdrop of rising settler violence and intensifying attacks in the occupied West Bank, which continue to endanger civilians and damage their property. As the Occupying Power, Israel has a responsibility to ensure that the civilian population is protected against all acts of violence.

I call for an immediate and transparent investigation, and for all perpetrators to be held accountable. These attacks must stop!”
